Stop Disqualifying Us For Home Loans Based On Student Loan Debt
The Issue
I wrote the letter below to my student loan provider today. I am the CEO of Queen Society Investments LLC, a real estate service company. Other than providing transaction coordination services to a few real estate investors, I have been teaching public school children for 13 years.
I have nothing much to show for it. All I want is a home.
I am starting this petition because I know there are many women in my same shoes. Most of my colleagues, who graduated from college in the middle of the housing crisis of 2010, have seen ten years pass by and they remain in apartments.
Just renting, not owning.
They are also denied public service loan forgiveness for arbitrary reasons. They do not qualify for mortgage loans due to their student loan debt.
"Debt to Income ratio-too high" is the reason of denial given repeatedly. The lenders turn them away. We must bring this economic injustice to an end. The student loan lenders provide affordable plans and options, however mortgage loan lenders claim they cannot consider those arrangements.
They issue denials instead.
I do not know what the response will be for the letter that I wrote to my student loan biller, but I hope to get a million signatures on this petition, so we / the American college graduates / debt sufferers' voices will be heard. Please sign. Thank you in advance.
Letter to my student loan provider, (MyFedLoan)

In order to qualify for a mortgage loan, applicants have to be on a payment plan that covers the entire balance, so I have applied for the extended fixed plan. Please get with your CEO and tell him the mortgage companies are blocking people from buying homes due to their student loan balance, and they are rejecting income based repayment plans. The student loan company is trying to help people by providing low monthly payment plans, but the mortgage lenders are looking at those plans as invalid. They will only accept a plan that covers the entire balance on fixed payments. Therefore, the extended fixed program needs to be changed. Instead of 25 years, make it a 35 year plan. Some will still have to pay it until they retire from their jobs, but at least they will have a home and not have to keep renting. Whether you know it or not, you are the reason so many moms have no garden and kids cannot play in a back yard or roller skate on a sidewalk. They are shoved into small apartments because their hardworking parents cannot qualify for a home loan due to student loan debt rules/requirements that are unjust and ridiculous. Please adjust your practices. Let us be successful. Stop blocking our dreams.
