Many fans of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games are dismayed at the lack of a toggle on/off option for the EXP Share feature announced in the remakes of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

For a wide variety of reasons fans of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl insist that we can control whether EXP Share is toggled on/off. These are ranging from a personal connection with their Pokemon to the ability to influence the difficulty of the game. Below are some quotes from the Community:

"Really sad this isn’t toggleable again. I feel like I don’t connect to/use half my team during playthroughs when the EXP share over levels them and I don’t want them to get too strong." -Doctor_R6421

"I might not change your mind on why exp share is good/bad, but can you please explain why it's better to not give people the option? Just a simple toggle is all people are asking for..." -Pokegem7

"The fact that they stripped the choice of whether to use it is why people are displeased, especially now there would be less incentive to grind and feel less rewarding to win a difficult battle."

"I want to play through the campaign at my own pace, and the forced exp share will ruin that pace for me. All I and many others ask is for the option to turn it off[...]"  -Alecen16

"Why not just give players the option to play how they want? [...] They had a universal experience share that you could turn on and off in previous games and it worked fine."  -OftheWE

The one common theme among players in the community is the word 'Choice'. Trainers want the choice to play Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl how they experienced them as kids without mandatory EXP Share, or to chose a new experience with EXP Share turned on. 

The Pokemon Community is full of diverse people each with different ways of enjoying the game. If this Petition is successful, long time fans of the series will be able to relive the emotions and the experience that these games brought to them as kids, without taking away from other players who want a more modern Pokemon experience.
