Please offer vegan options at IHOP!
The Issue
I used to be a loyal fan to this restaurant before I learned about the cruelty involved in the animal agriculture industry. Unfortunately I have since realized there are virtually no options for vegans at my once favorite restaurant. Vegan options would also include options for vegetarians, as well as people suffering from food allergies and intolerances such as dairy and egg. There is also a growing trend of non-vegans who are eating more and more plant-based dishes.
Here are a few vegan suggestions:
Vegan pancakes (can be made with soy milk and vinegar, or other simple variations)
Tofu scramble
Vegan egg yolk (check out The Vegg)
Vegan bacon such as tempeh bacon
Vegan sausage
Vegan biscuits and gravy (made with non-dairy milk and vegan sausage)
Coffee with non-vegan creamer options
Vegan margarine
Hashbrowns cooked in oil or vegan margarine
Vegan veggie burger
Vegan sandwiches (such as Tofurky slices)
Vegan vegetable soup
For many non-vegans it is often surprising how many traditional food items can be made vegan. The fact is it is quite easy and often only involves simple substitutions. Pancakes are the perfect example of a vegan offering that would be simple and inclusive of various diets. Please offer vegan options at your restaurants! You would be the only major restaurant chain that offered a vegan breakfast menu. This would widen your customer base and serve an unfortunately underserved part of the population.
