If You Love Norfolk’s Countryside, Help Us Save It.
The Issue
We’re local residents asking for your support to stop a new solar development planned for land east of Back Road in Yelverton, Norfolk.
This isn’t just about solar panels. It’s about losing good farmland, harming wildlife, and changing our peaceful rural landscape. We all support renewable energy, but it has to be done in the right places with proper oversight and genuine input from the people who live here.
Around here, we already live alongside a solar farm, gas works and a pylon. It’s a lot for one small area. We support renewable energy, but there has to be a limit. Not every patch of countryside should be treated as disposable.
What’s worse is how this has been handled. Some properties were wrongly labelled on maps, objections were left out of the summary, and the community’s voice feels ignored. We weren’t even shown on the public feedback map. Supportive comments were counted but not displayed.
This won’t stop with Yelverton. Unless these developments are better regulated, more and more of Norfolk’s countryside will be swallowed up without proper safeguards or scrutiny.
Please sign this petition to ask South Norfolk Council to
• Review how this plan has been managed
• Push for stronger regulations around solar development on rural land
• Make sure local people are genuinely consulted before decisions are made
Let’s speak up for Norfolk before we lose more of what makes it special.
