The Issue

Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to you this morning to raise the awareness of Funeral Poverty and also of the unacceptable delay in the process of a funeral grant that they still processing claims made in December.

The reason I am raising this as my mother passed away on the 14th January in Bromyard Community Hospital of stage 4a cancer. She was then taken to Hereford Mortuary where she still remains and is now her body is starting to decompose.

I had to apply for a funeral grant and I am on universal credit and my my mother had not savings or plans in place for a funeral. Obviously there are numerous families in the same situation as myself and I find it totally outrageous that the DWP AND SOCIAL FUND can get away with this and there is no excuses for it.

If she has passed in a care home or at home it would of been dealt with by environmental health as I had to deal with the same when my grandmother passed away last month and everything was processed by environmental health and I was able to attend and she was cremated at Hereford.

As you can imagine I am incredibly distraught by the fact my mother has not yet been put to rest as I am an only child and have no other family.

I would to be escalated as soon as possible so I can at least get my mother put to rest.

Please can you help with the cause

kind regards
