There are sufficient number of people live in the city consuming vegetarian only food either due to their religious beliefs or due to dietary restrictions. Plant based, Halal, Kosher food is identified based on the ingredients but vegetarian food is not identified on the packaging.

Most food packaging has enough information on ingredients but it also contains codes such as EXXX etc and some of the names are not clearer if they contain animal contents or are suitable for vegetarians. This move will not cost city any money as they have to ask manufacturers / importers to include 'suitable for vegetarians' on the packaging but will help the community to follow their religious beliefs without a shadow of doubt.
