Give Students the Right To Choose "P/F" or Letter Grades

Give Students the Right To Choose "P/F" or Letter Grades
The Issue
District 91 School Board is reconsidering the P/F grading policy used for the online-learning during third trimester.
It was used in an attempt to be fair to all students. However, it is not fair to students that care about their GPA. A "Pass" means that students do not get the extra grade point boost for honors or AP classes. This affects how their GPA is calculated for college entrance and scholarship opportunities.
Even more concerning is the fact that districts in Idaho, even in Eastern Idaho -- and school districts across the United States HAVE given students the option to choose letter grades OR Pass/Fail grading. This way, no student is harmed by the Covid-19 online learning change.
Do you want your student being compared to another that has letter grades when yours only has a "P?"
We are not asking for special consideration -- we're just asking for students to be allowed to choose-- whether they want the grade they earned, or a Pass/Fail.
This grading policy will affect students' GPAs for the next 5 years.
