Petition updateBoise Pride Won't Go DarkAn update, and a response to recent comments.

Thank you Boise State Public Radio for bringing attention to the cause in their new segment.

We find it unfortunate that the State's response is, in effect, disinterest in doing their jobs in deciding what is and is not appropriate for these types of demonstrations. We expect more of our elected officials.

Further, the proposition that this is a First Amendment concern is ironic. Attempting to limit the expression of Boise Pride while providing no documentation of a supposed new written policy is an interesting choice. This isn't just a Pride issue. We want other causes to express themselves in this manner as well, which is now unilaterally being shot down across the board at the hand of negligence and misinformation from the Department of Administration.

We have requested to meet with the office three separate times, and have been left hanging on multiple emails over the past few months trying to resolve this issue before going public. Thus, we have decided community involvement was the best route to take.

For those interested, you can review the 11 pages of policy that make no reference to this change here.

We're nearing 7,500 signatures on our Change.org petition! Signed already? Help us get the word out - share our cause with friends and family. We look forward to sharing further developments early in the coming week.

We appreciate you, our LGBTQ+ and Allied community, and look forward to resuming regular Pride scheduling once the State decides to do the right thing.
