Release Juana Graciela Cardona Alverez!

I need your help. I am the immigration attorney for Juana Graciela Cardona Alverez, alien number 088 363 254.  On December 30, 2018, an article was published by BuzzFeed about her story ( My client has suffered unimaginable persecution in her home country of Guatemala AND is a victim of our immigration system and ineffective representation by former legal counsel. It's important to know that if my client would have received a fair hearing when she initially came to the United States, she would have qualified for two different forms of relief from deportation and would almost certainly have received legal status. But she didn't.

My client has two U.S. citizen daughters, aged 10 and 6. Her oldest has written a letter threatening to commit suicide because her mom is in detention (see BuzzFeed article).

To right these wrongs, I need your help to call ICE and ask that they release Juana. I have already requested her release through formal channels and my request was denied without an explanation. My client will still fight her case to completion if she is released, but she will at least be with her children who desperately need her.

If you have ever looked at the news on immigration and wondered what you could do about it, THIS IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO. Please call ICE and demand Juana's release. They can be reached at 956-547-1800, 956-547-1837, or 956-547-1824. You can say something so simple as "I am [insert name] or a concerned member of the public if you do not want to leave your name]. I am calling to demand the release of JGCA. Her 2 U.S. citizen daughters need her. There is no reason to detain her. Thank you."

I cannot do this without your help. We have a very limited time to get her released. Thank you so much.
