Dear Justice Marie-Josée Hogue,

We, the undersigned, members of the Iranian Canadian community, are writing to state in unequivocal terms that the Iranian Canadian Congress (ICC) does not represent the Iranian Canadian Community in any shape or form and to express serious concerns about their standing in the Public Inquiry into Foreign Interference in Federal Electoral Processes and Democratic Institutions.

The ICC, with only a couple hundred members, cannot accurately represent a community numbering in the hundreds of thousands. More importantly, in recent years, ICC’s positions on a wide range of Iran-related issues have been starkly contradicting the views held by the majority of Iranian Canadians and closely aligned with those of the Islamic Republic. A prime example is their latest statement, which was issued merely a day after the Islamic Republic launched a massive drone and missile assault on Israel,
taking a position identical to that of Iranian Government officials.

We urge you to carefully scrutinize the representation provided by the ICC when making decisions that affect the Iranian Canadian community. It is vital that our voices are authentically heard and represented in matters concerning our well-being and security.

Thank you for your attention to this issue. We anticipate your actions to ensure fair representation for members of the Iranian Canadian community.

کنگره ایرانیان کانادا نماینده من نیست

  ما به عنوان بخشی از اعضای جامعه ایرانی-کانادایی، با صراحت اعلام می‌داریم که کنگره ایرانیان کانادا به هیچ وجه نماینده جامعه ایرانی-کانادایی نیست. به علاوه، ما نگرانی عمیق خود را نسبت به حضور نمایندگان این سازمان در کمیسیون عمومی تحقیقات در رابطه با دخالت خارجی در فرایند انتخاباتی و نهادهای دموکراتیک در کانادا، ابراز می‌داریم.

ما براین باوریم که کنگره ایرانیان کانادا، تنها با کمی بیش از دویست عضو، به هیچ وجه نمیتواند جامعه بزرگ ایرانیان کانادا را با صدها هزار عضو نمایندگی نماید. نکته مهمتر اینکه در سالهای اخیر، مواضع کنگره ایرانیان کانادا در مورد طیف وسیعی از موضوعات مرتبط با ایران نه تنها با دیدگاه اکثریت ایرانیان کانادا در تضاد بوده بلکه به شدت با نظرات و موضعگیریهای جمهوری اسلامی همسو بوده است. یکی از نمونه های بارز آن، بیانیه اخیر آنهاست که تنها یک روز پس از حمله موشکی و پهپادی گسترده جمهوری اسلامی به اسرائیل صادر شده و در آن موضعی مشابه موضع مقامات حکومت ایران اتخاذ شده است.

 به همین سبب، ما مصرانه از شما می‌خواهیم که هنگام اتخاذ تصمیماتی که بر زندگی و امنیت جامعه ایرانیان کانادا تاثیر می‌گذارد، ادعای این سازمان مبنی بر نمایندگی جامعه بزرگ ایرانیان کانادا را بادقت بررسی نمایید.

از بذل توجه شما به این مساله سپاسگزاریم و امیدواریم که اقدامات مؤثر شما در این راستا، برخورداری جامعه ایرانی-کانادایی از نمایندگی عادلانه را تضمین نماید.
