The UGC guidelines clearly states that a pen& paper , online exams or promotion model can be adopted. The online exam has got many problems as a large number of hostelers have left their utilities in hostel rooms. Moreover it is extremely difficult for students to get a room without any disturbance for 2 hours and all the laptop models might not support the exam software. The internet slowdown and connectivity issues are a common issue and the chances of scoring in MCQ is very low. The descriptive 40marks requires text book and more than 95% of the students don't have textbook. The portion is not yet completed and many other states such as Maharashtra have ordered promotion of students based on aggregate marks. I feel we all should press for cancellation of exams for our greater benefit.
