After reading an article about how dangerous these are for your dog, I am shocked that these are even allowed to be sold in pet shops after they are highly frowned upon by veterinary professionals.

These rawhide chews contain so many chemicals which seep into the chew as they have been soaked in a chemical bath to remove any hair or fats from the hide before it’s then sprayed with more chemicals to preserve the chew and make it last longer, after that they are then glued into a preferred shape to appeal to dog owners and put into packaging with a label to entice people into buying them. what is stated in the fine print of some labels is that they are hard to digest and can cause clogging of the intestines and giving dogs damage to the kidney and liver. If a choking hazard occurs it can result in your dog having to have surgery which could result in death if it isn’t successful.

After researching further into this I found there are many different safer alternatives to rawhide chews which contain no chemical products and are easily digestible. Banning these products will result in dogs eating treats that are healthy for them and not slowly poisoning them.
