Writing this petition 6 years ago, I nervously told my story of coming out as a gay footy player. I wrote how homophobic slurs were part of the game and I worried no one would support my plea to end homophobia in the AFL.
But then, 29,000 of you signed my petition on Change.org. It changed my life and has started to change the game I love so much. But since the petition, I've spent years talking with young LGBTIQ+ people in towns right across the country, hearing stories of shocking homophobia and have helped support 11 annual Pride Cup games at footy clubs wanting to support our movement.
Right now, I'm building a new organisation dedicated to fighting homophobia in sport and taking the Pride Cup to regional towns right across the country. But I need your help to do that. Can you chip in a few dollars to help us launch the Pride Cup to 150 clubs across Australia? Click here to watch the launch video and help:

As the heart of many regional towns, football clubs have the power to create ripple effects and transform attitudes within a community. In Hamilton in country Victoria, many LGBTI people who grew up there told me they had an awful time coming out. When they returned for Pride Cup, they felt accepted -- with rainbow messages in shop windows, rainbow jumpers on the field and even a rainbow 50m line.
I've assembled my own A-team to replicate this around the country, and we're ready to build this movement together. But we'll need help covering costs to travel to regional towns, create education programs and launch big, bold strategies to help end homophobia in footy.
We've just launched a crowdfunder -- https://chuffed.org/project/pridecuplaunch -- and if everyone here chipped in just $2 -- we'd be able to launch right away.
First, we'll help turn one home game each year in every football league in Australia into a celebration of diversity and inclusion, so that every supporter, official and player know they don't have to choose between being themselves and the game that they love. With your support, we can design and deliver an education program for players and coaches to run alongside every one of these games, helping them challenge homophobia so more LGBTI people can access the health and wellbeing benefits of community sport.
The best goal we can hope for this footy season is to end homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in sporting clubs around the country. Are you in?

Thanks for being part of this journey from the very beginning,
Jason
