Petition Closed

We, KY and U.S. citizens, antique dealers, pickers, resellers, artisans, craftsman, hunters and fishermen feel the existing KY law ,150.180, regarding the RESALE  of taxidermy animal, fish mounts and deer antlers (including shed's, any item made of deer antler, turkey feather craft, etc.)  is unclear and only arbitrarily enforced.

On February 24, 2012, agents from Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife RAIDED Bright's Antique World in Franklin, KY and confiscated 26 animal, fish mounts and deer antlers (sheds included). No animal mount or antler confiscated was on the endangered species list.  Most mounts were previously owned and purchased at KY auctions, estate sales, yard, garage sales and flea markets.

ACCORDING TO KENTUCKY FISH AND WILDLIFE IF YOU SELL YOUR ANIMAL, FISH MOUNT OR ANTLER, YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW.  Call them 800-858-1549, this is not a joke, if you want to verify the information.

REMEMBER, THIS IS YOUR PROPERTY!
YOU paid for your hunting, fishing license
YOU paid the processing
YOU paid the taxidermist to manufacture the mount
After you have BOUGHT and PAID for your harvested animal or fish, you should be able to sell your taxidermied animal mount or antler
IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO SO.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO CHANGE AND CLARIFY KY LAW 150.180.
No Kentucky citizen's home or business should have to live in fear of being RAIDED, their property confiscated and fined because an agent of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife had a different interpretation of KY Law 150.180.

Our rights are being violated, sign the petition, change this law!

Letter to
KY Legislature REVISE law 150.180, Protect Our Individual Rights! Kentucky Legislature
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Kentucky Legislature.

----------------
Change existing law 150.180 regarding the sale of taxidermy mounts

We feel that the existing law regarding the sale of taxidermy mounts and deer antlers is unclear and only arbitrarily enforced.
The law's summary is clearly defined in Baldwin's Kentucky Revised Statutes Annotated, Title XII, Conservation and State Development, Chapter 150, Fish and Wildlife Resources. It reads: Summary: Under Kentucky law, no person shall import, transport, possess for resale or sell any endangered species of wildlife. The term "endangered species" means any species of wildlife seriously threatened with worldwide extinction or in danger of being extirpated from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
On February 24, 2012, agents from Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife RAIDED Bright's Antique World in Franklin, KY and confiscated 26 animal mounts and deer antlers (sheds included). No animal mount or antler confiscated was on the endangered species list.

REMEMBER, this effects all KY citizens, not just antique dealers, resellers, pickers, artisans & craftsman (yes those lovely deer antler handle baskets/chandeliers, knives and painted turkey feathers are all subject under Kentucky Fish and Wildlife's interpretation of Law 150.180.)
