On Saturday, August 21, 2021 our small town of wavery had a natural disaster. A flood. 17 inches of rain. It came so quick and early, right around 8:30 am. this is the 3rd time its flooded since 2010, and most/all residents of WaverlyHousingAuthority were impacted. (WHA is hud housing/lowincome families) But this time it was a whole lot worse! We lost many lives who were tenants to WHA. I know 6 or 7 that lost their lives that were tenants, 2 that were my neighbors next to my apartment. These apartments are a DEATH trap. I was stuck in my apartment, slowly watching the water go up my window. Everyone lost everything. My neighbor was stuck too and she's been there for all of them, says this one did it for her, shes moving, after being there for 13 years. We are all traumatized! I'm sure most of the tenants would agree and stand being me on having this place demolished!!! No one should have to live in a flood zone like this!!
