Humble Request regarding The Early Spring
The Issue
Requesting an Extended Version, Deleted Scenes, or Special Epilogue for The Early Spring
To: Youku, Netflix, Director Jiang Ji Zheng, and the Production Team of The Early Spring,
First and foremost, we would like to express our heartfelt congratulations on the phenomenal success of The Early Spring. Reaching the top rankings globally on Netflix and breaking heat records on Youku is a well-deserved victory. We are deeply grateful to the entire team for bringing such a captivating story to life.
As international fans, we fully understand and respect the regulatory laws, broadcasting guidelines, and domestic compliance requirements that the production team must navigate. We recognize the care and effort taken to deliver a smooth broadcast to audiences.
At the same time, we want to express our profound admiration for the creative choices made during production specifically the decision to hire an intimacy coordinator. Thanks to her extraordinary expertise, alongside the incredible talent of Jing Boran and Sun Qian under Director Jiang Ji Zheng's vision, the romantic tension and emotional depth between Luke (Luan Nian) and Flora (Shang Zhitao) were handled with breathtaking authenticity.
While we know the series was originally planned for 32 episodes before being adjusted down to 24, we fully understand that there are valid reasons behind why those changes had to be made during editing. However, many fans feel it is a genuine shame that we couldn't see more of their journey, especially given the wonderful moments teased in promotional material that didn't make the final cut. It feels like there is so much more to their story left to explore, and the final episodes left us feeling that the pacing was rushed with missing context.
While we would love the opportunity to see the 8 deleted episodes or an extended cut, we also understand realities change. Even beyond the original episodes, this doesn't stop fans from wanting more of Luke and Flora. Because of this, we humbly ask Youku, Netflix, and the production team to consider giving the global audience a special epilogue, a spin-off, or bonus footage dedicated to their next chapter.
Thank you for your time, your hard work, and for creating a masterpiece that has captured our hearts.
Sincerely,
The International Fans of The Early Spring
