Animal overpopulation is a HUGE problem, especially in Oklahoma. I have worked with rescues and have been heartbroken by how little we can do to stop the problem. There just simply is not enough room to take them all in. Non-profit organizations work tirelessly to get dogs out of the streets and abusive homes but there's only so much you can do. To make matters worse, breeders add MORE dogs to the picture. I, like many others, see through the dog shows and pedigree papers and look at the underlying problem. The world does not need more dogs; it needs homes for the dogs that are already living and suffering. Sign this petition to outlaw dog breeding. If we are to succeed, dog breeders will have to stop lining their pockets with money from selling dogs like they're furniture. Please help support this cause in other ways, by going to rescues and shelters where you can find mix-breeds and purebreds alike in need of a good home instead of supporting the problem. Call animal control and law enforcement when you see unlawful breeding (this includes having a very high number of puppies, inbreeding, the puppies not having the proper vetting, injust living conditions, etc.). Support the cause! Adopt, don't shop!
