The Humane Slaughter Association is a charity - and it's name is not allowed to be: - offensive or have an offensive meaning - misleading Clearly it fails on both counts - I have complained to the Charity Commission about the term "humane slaughter" and for them to remove "humane" - the HSA is an 'animal slaughter association'. Link to charity naming guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-choose-a-charity-name Report concerns to the Charity Commission, for example if a charity is not doing what it claims to do: http://forms.charitycommission.gov.uk/raising-concerns/ I opted for 'Serious non-compliance in a charity which, left unchecked, could damage public trust and confidence in the Charity Commission as an effective regulator' Here is what I wrote to the Charity Commission: "The Humane Slaughter Association is a charity and it's name is not allowed to be: - offensive or have an offensive meaning - misleading Clearly it's title fails on both counts as "humane slaughter" is not possible. They are portraying themselves with a paradoxical name and are perpetuating a lie that convinces people that killing can be done in a kind or non violent way which it cannot. Society's views on what is and is not a kind way to treat animals is now changing. If the definition of humane can no longer legally apply to dairy farming according to the ASA, then surely it cannot apply to killing a healthy sentient being who wants to live? The HSA should be told to remove the word "humane" from their title - the HSA is a 'non-human animal slaughter association'. I currently have 724 people who have signed my petition, it's live and the signature count goes up every day. To find out more about my petition please go to: https://www.change.org/p/humane-slaughter-association-remove-the-word-humane-from-your-title I believe the HSA's non-compliance to change their title could damage public trust and confidence in the Charity Commssion as an effective regulator. Link to charity naming guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-choose-a-charity-name " The Charity Commission have said: Thank you for submitting your concerns about a charity. We will carefully consider the information you have provided. If we identify issues of regulatory concern, we will take them forward with the trustees of the charity. We will also keep a record of your concerns on file. It Is our policy to not provide updates on complaints, we will therefore only contact you again if we need further information from you.
