Child Soldiers In Uganda

Child Soldiers In Uganda
The Issue
Children may be used as soldiers in Uganda. When they should be enjoying their youth and going to school, instead some are kidnapped. Child soldiers are children under the age of 18. In Uganda they are a part of the Lord's Resistance Army(LRA). The male children are used for either fighting or labor in the group. The female children are used for labor or "wives" to higher ranking members in the group. These children may develop PTSD and can have trouble reintegrating back into society. The solution to this problem is to educate children in Uganda. Teach them how to escape the LRA, how to return to where they are from, and other survival techniques. The use of child soldiers in Uganda has decreased since 2006. This doesn't mean that they aren't used today. Even though the number is small doesn't mean that they shouldn't be helped. While I don't have to face this problem they do and not because of a fault of their own, but due to their misfortune of where and when they were born. If you could help these children why wouldn't you?
