Javed Rahman, the UN Special Rapporteur on Iran Affairs, has expressed concern over the start of a "campaign" by the Iranian government to issue death sentences to protesters in this country.
The United Nations says that more than 400 people have been killed in Iran's protests and 64,000 have been arrested since the protests began on 26 Shahrivar, in response to the killing of Mahsa Amini during his arrest by the Irshad patrol.
The Iranian Human Rights Organization in Norway reported in its latest report on November 27 that at least 448 citizens were killed, including 63 children and 29 women.
Referring to last week's vote of the UN Human Rights Council to establish a fact-finding mission about repressions in Iran, Mr. Rahman told Reuters news agency: "I am worried that the Iranian regime will respond with violence to the resolution of the Human Rights Council, which may cause violence and repression."
