According to universal declaration of human rights; Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal.

Kane Douglas has been in arbitrary detention since June 2018, he was denied bail and has been in pre trial detention until he was unlawfully sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in Croatia when he is a British Citizen 14/05/2020

We are currently in a global pandemic with the spread of a virus spreading through prisons. Which has limited Kanes representation and support.
Kane was sentenced in a private hearing without having his defence heard, or having witnesses from both the prosecution and the defence present or via video link. In addition he also was unable to have a British legal representative.

This so called trial and sentence has breached his human right to a fair trial.

The right to fair trial is a fundamental right and it’s in the interest of administration of justice. The Croatian judicial system have violated his right to be presumed innocent till the state has proved their case, which they did not. Or if they state they have this was not translated to English understanding.

The number of visitors in an impartial judiciary is crucial and fundamental in a fair justice system and can’t be compromised in a democratic country, which Croatian judiciary have done so. For this reason we would urge for the case to be heard in this way.

The gravity of the charges are serious that the minimum sanctions are life sentences which he has now received. It will be in the interest of administration of justice to join us to ensure that Kane Douglas is granted an appeal to enable him to get a fair trial, not kept in prison without his case being heard before a public, impartial tribunal.
