Revise The NWR-1 Schools Dress Code

Revise The NWR-1 Schools Dress Code
The Issue
As students who must follow these codes we are speaking out against their discrimination against people for what they wear to school. The majority of NWR-1 school districts dress codes are set with goals to prevent the distraction and disturbance of students, unfortunately I along with many other students find these policies both ineffective and extremely offensive.
Dress codes have been enforced since elementary school. Imagine being a child in 4th grade and being told that your shorts are too short. You dont know why but you have to change. Not only is this embarrassing its confusing you dont understand why. You'd think the people sexualizing you at that age would be discriminated against but instead its your body. Not only myself but along with many people agree this in no way preventing the distraction of students, it’s doing the exact opposite not only is it demeaning but its also directly promoting rape culture in that were being told to cover up in order to prevent the actions of others.
We are requesting that the NWR-1 Board of Education accepts a meeting with us to discuss how we can review these policies and consider how they contribute to victim blaming and rape culture.
