Stop the partnership between ICRC and terrorist militia of RSF in Sudan.
The issue
It's very disappointing for Sudanese people to have witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a partnership between the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan on Tuesday, 14th December 2021.
Sudanese people do commend the great humanitarian role played by ICRC in Sudan, but we are very concerned about this news, therefore, we denounce and condemn this step that would further legitimize the violations committed by this paramilitary forces in the various regions of Sudan. In the meantime, more innocent people could be killed, threatened and terrorized by the RSF.
The RSF is accused of committing human rights violations in Sudan, including; killing, intimidating and terrorizing innocent and unarmed civilians, RSF is also accused of participating in the massacre that dispersed the sit-in on 3rd June 2019.
The controversial Rapid Support Forces' law that was approved in January 2017 by the former regime grants immunity to members of these forces in the event they commit violations against innocent Sudanese citizens, the mentioned law does not allow members of RSF to be legally prosecuted.
International organizations such as ICRC should not sign a memorandum of understanding for partnership or cooperation with such terrorist militia, because this undermines the ongoing peaceful efforts for change carried out by the civil society organizations and all other Sudanese people during the glorious revolution since December 2018. We are striving to lawfully get rid of these terrorist militias so that all the people of Sudan could enjoy security and stability. Please let's help our families in Sudan regain the human rights and achieve a sustainable peace.
We submit this petition and call to all human rights activists and organizations to support it, and hope that the decision makers in the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) will reverse their decision to sign or enter into any draft agreement or partnership with such terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan.
