Promotional Post From Constable Rank to Sergeant Post in SAPS-All Sections On Merit Basis)
The Issue
Members of the South African Police Services holding a rank of a Constable are not privileged when in comes to promotional post that are advertised in phases, especially the once that are in the support services environment, CIS, Vispol, Flying Squad, K9 Units, POP unit, you can name them, None or whatsoever next rank it is advertised for level 6 which is a Sergeant, Constable are in a struggle and have to wait for Manna, you won't believe that till today 2020-02-11 no one can tell you the precise years of service for a constable to be promoted to a sergeant rank.
Promotions for such services come Like rain no matter how one can forecast it believe u me it will surprise you, some will get it and some Will not surprisingly the criteria used it's the same.
The Management needs to respond on the issues of how one become promoted if there are no post being advertised for police act level 6 but tons being advertised for. Level 7 public service act, where is the fairness provided we all work in the same department and performing the same services, to add on that we can not us police act members eligible to apply for public service act posts but members employed under public service act can apply for a police act posts? How and why because we a end up under the police act , reason it's that public service act it only applies from level 3 to 7 then from 8 to the last band it's police act? Why the division?
According to me SAPS promotions favours public service act members and it is not fair. This should be dealt with at large and it must balance to favour all employees.
