Human Life Has Less Value Than Animals in NSW: STOP Roaming Cats! Amend NSW Laws Now!
The issue
About 1 in 5 people have a pet allergy, and most people with pet allergies are allergic to cats. Now, imagine waking up every day to find your neighbour’s cats have pooped in front of your entrance, on your doormat, porch, and in both your front and backyard lawns. You are forced to clean it up day in and day out, because the laws in NSW place more value on cats than on human well-being.
I know this all too well. As someone who suffers from severe allergies to cats, I’ve been repeatedly admitted to the emergency room in critical condition due to allergic reactions from contact with cat hair. This has led to long-term medication and a life of constant fear of exposure. Despite this, I have no legal protection.
Under current laws, cats are allowed to roam freely and relieve themselves on my property, and there’s nothing I can do about it. I feel powerless and frustrated, knowing that my health and safety are disregarded.
It’s even more maddening when you have a neighbour who, knowing the law works in their favour, use it as an excuse to encourage their cats to roam freely on your property whenever you complain.
- How would you feel if this has been happening to you for years?
- How would you feel if, like me, you were forced to live in constant distress and fear for your health and your home?
- Would you like to live in your own home as a prisoner?
- How long would you tolerate this situation before demanding change?
Let’s stand together and demand that lawmakers amend the laws in NSW, just like other Australian states have.
No one should have to live in fear or feel like a prisoner in their own home. Sign this petition to make a change and restore our right to live peacefully in our own spaces.
