Hull - Zeebrugge ferry

The Issue

For years, the Hull to Zeebrugge ferry was a direct, comfortable, and affordable way to travel between the UK and Belgium. When it was stopped, it didn’t just affect freight or businesses – it affected families, friendships, and local economies with the sad loss of this connection that crossed the North Sea.

Without this connection travel has become much harder and far more expensive. Flights are not only costly, but they come with all the usual airport stress, environmental concerns, and limited luggage. Driving long distances and navigating the Channel Tunnel isn’t a practical option for everyone either – especially for older people or those with children.

Reinstating the Hull to Zeebrugge route would mean the world to many of us. It would make it easier and more affordable for Belgian nationals in the UK to stay connected with their loved ones, and vice versa. And let’s not forget what it would do for tourism – both for Yorkshire and for Belgium (and even further afield). People love the idea of hopping on an overnight ferry, waking up in another country, ready to explore.

This isn’t just about convenience – it’s about keeping families together, supporting regional tourism, and offering a more sustainable way to travel between our two countries.

Please, bring back the Hull to Zeebrugge ferry route. So many of us need it more than ever.

Thank you,
Stijn
