A few years ago my parents bought their dream home... A beautiful house with land that has so much potential. The hope was that they would be able to live the dream they had worked their whole lives for. They got their horses and thought they were bringing them to their forever home. But after going to the county for a build permit for their barn they found out that they were not allowed to have horses on the property and that's when the battle started. They filed to rezone their property from R1 to A1. They have a little over 7 acres and the means to give our horses a great life there. But unfortunately a subdivision surrounds their property on three sides and they do not want my parents have horses on their property and they rallied against us at the rezoning committee. There are at least ten properties within less than a mile from the property that are zoned A1. One of those houses also backs up to the subdivision. Because they had so many supporters, even if their reasons were outrageous, the committee denied our petition to rezone. The two years are up and my parents are now able to refile again.. We need as many supporters as we can possibly have. We need people to sign the petition, as many as possible, but the more supporters we have from Harris County, Georgia that can actually come to the rezoning hearing will make the most impact.
