Stop The Downgrading Of Bantry General Hospital

Stop The Downgrading Of Bantry General Hospital
The Issue
PLEASE DO NOT DONATE. The money does not go to Bantry Hospital, it’s goes to change.org(the host website). ALL WE NEED IS YOUR SIGNATURE, thank you.
Cork lives will be lost if Bantry General Hospital is downgraded. The HSE has possible plans to downgrade BGH to a model-2 hospital that will lead to the loss of its 24-hour acute medical services and have a huge impact on its patients.
This means all emergency ambulances will go to Cork University Hospital, bypassing Bantry General Hospital and that BGH will only be open from 9am - 5pm for non acute patients so anybody who is acutely sick even with a chest infection or a flu, cannot be seen locally. Bantry is a 1.5hr drive to CUH.
The impact is huge. Patients will have to endure long journey times and delays in ambulance arriving to calls will increase. BHG will no longer be able to recruit or retain highly qualified staff, in all departments and disciplines as it does now.
CUH is already under extreme pressure with a trolley crisis. More patents arriving by ambulance will be unable to unload and this will get worse and lead to lives being lost in West Cork.
Local GP services also believe this will be detrimental to patient care West Cork.
