The banking giants HSBC and DBS have bankrolled palm oil company Bumitama Group. HSBC have provided £260million in loans and other financial services to the destructive palm oil company since 2010.

Bumitama have been illegally destroying irreplaceable rainforest in Borneo to make way for palm oil plantations.

Bumitama and their subsidiaries have been responsible for killing endangered Orangutans. Bumitama have also been leaving starving wild orangutans with their babies, stranded in pockets of land for conservation groups to fund rescue and translocation.

Bumitama have ignored repeated requests by conservation groups and the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) to adopt better environmental management plans.

Urging all general public and corporations to stop banking with HSBC until such time HSBC cease funding Bumitama.  Bankrolling Bumitama is allowing the palm oil company Bumitama and their subsidiaries to cause further damage and destruction.

Note: The petition image is baby orangutan named Sura, now in the care of BOSF.  Sura was left orphaned in a palm oil plantation belonging to Bumitama.

Sura had some of his fingers chopped off by plantation workers, most likley caused during the killing of his mother.

Dear HSBC & DBS Bank,
I urge you to stop investing in Bumitama Group and their subsidiaries and stop supporting rainforest destruction and death of endangered species.

Bumitama and their subsidiaries have been destroying irreplaceble rainforest in Borneo to make way for palm oil plantations.

Bumitama have been responsible for killing endangered Orangutans and leaving starving wild orangutans, and orphaned baby orangutans to be rescued by Conservation groups.

Bumitama have ignored repeated requests by conservation groups and the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) to adopt better environmental management plans.

Bumitama are also clearing land in the famous Tanjung Putin National Park in Central Kalimantan, home to thousands of endangered Orangutans and other wildlife, which is a hot spot for eco tourism that provides the local communities with sustainable income.

We will be urging all general public and corporations via worldwide media attention to stop banking with HSBC until such time HSBC cease funding Bumitama.
