Petition updateHoward Webb: Hand In Your Resignation With Immediate EffectMassive VAR overhaul needed in the midst of recent blunders - Liverpool should have had a penalty

Liverpool should have had a penalty when were fouled in the box. This was not given. This is not good, and this reflects badly on the FA. It was a knee high challenge. A whole foot, including the studs directly jabbed aggressively towards the abdomen. With no intention to play the ball. I feel strongly about this, and I am sure other people do too.

Just another quick update. I understand this petition, has influenced people, and there is more awareness of VAR. I understand the petition has probably reached its natural conclusion of signatures. Yet, I still feel strongly in highlighting VAR blunders.

I think the idea of watching the refs is good, but ideally. It's not the refs themselves all of the time. They are trained to do the job, and if they are not doing the job well. Despite the fact they may have been a ref. You have to look at them currently. Now, I appreciate a lot of the VAR people are former refs. Yet, this can often be a case of, someone can be a good ref. But not so good with VAR. So maybe people should be employed who are capable of technology, and problem solving. As one of the problems is. 'Oh there isn't a correct angle, or a definitive angle to clarify or change the refs view.' I think VAR should actually be more comprehensive. Also employ people who are assertive, and don't mind asking the ref to go to the screen. A lot of people at VAR are anxious about sending the ref over to the screen. Because, 'oh I don't want to make his job hard work'. It's his job. I appreciate refs get abuse from fans when they go to the screen. Yet, what I would say with that as well. With public criticism of the FA. Try to stick to the facts, and the points. Try not to verbally abuse the refs whilst they are looking at the screen. And anyone trying to interfere with the refs decision, by making comments to them has to stop.

Going to the screen, should be a safe place for the ref, so if the ref feels it's not safe, as they don't want to face verbal onslaught from the crowd. Then obviously just grab a steward, and ask the crowd to simmer down. Hurling insults at refs doesn't do any justification yet make them too scared to go to the monitor.

I think that's the only thing I would say. Yeah emotions get heated. Yet I don't really think verbally abusing refs is going to help. I think sticking to constructive feedback, and giving them feedback they can work with. Can really help them. And this is the important factor here. Yet having said that. It's the refs job to go to the screen. Despite the crowd.

When you are at a football game, you have to accept there is going to be some level of banter. Unfortunately the people on the pitch will be subjected to more banter. Than people in the crowd. It's up to the individual teams, to manage their crowd properly. And we saw with some clubs, with West Brom. The bad crowd management, and inability to control their fans. Was not good, and was concluded the fact they failed to control their fans. Was on the basis, of money, and the man in charge. The owner. Did not want to spend resources on security and policing for the venue inside the ground. As didn't want to shell out the money. Not only was this irresponsible, yet a lot of people got injured and hurt that day. Football games unfortunately have to be policed. Despite the social perception of Police. Because you do get a few troublemakers and lunatics at the football games. And it only takes a couple, and before you know it. All hell breaks loose. I have no further comment to make on policing the games.

Yet, it's more to do with the clubs ability to manage their fans, and even if you have to spend money for policing inside. If you are the owner. As doesn't come out of tax payer budget. It's very naive and stupid, to put money before public safety. Considering people were severely injured that day at the Hawthornes, and I didn't find any of those 40 minutes, or however long it was funny or entertaining. It potentially could have caused the whole crowd to crush, and cause injuries. This was poorly managed by the West Brom owner. And shouldn't happen again.

I know, West Brom have a club to run, yet Wolves do also, and so does every other club. The fact refs are afraid to go to the monitor, we need to address also. Yet, maybe have a thicker skin, and just go there. And it's what they are paid to do. Their wages. So everyone who works, their/your tax money goes on these refs. They are not paid to stand there. They are paid to actually work with the game they have, and deal with incidents on and off the pitch. Some of them are able to do this. I will say Andrew Madley is a perfect example of someone very skilled and doing this. I would say Michael Oliver is a good example too. We need more people like them. That's all I have to say despite the tangent about the Hawthornes. That was a shambles. And I am sure West Brom supporters weren't happy either with the disruption, plus the injuries. So I empathise with them.

I know it's just a petition, but please try to share this with your friends, and get this signed. I want to go for 200 signatures. That way. I can then proceed with getting this petition out in the open, and to the point where it's actually making waves rather than ripples. I know the higher up the signature list you get. You get news companies asking you about it, and you get things, put online, and it becomes a matter of debate. Yet we have to talk about it, to change it. This platform is there for.
