I will explain later what was said. My MP contact FA. They replied back. I saw the reply. They said, 'they are trying to balance protecting the refs, with supporting the fans and the passion of the game.' They did admit VAR has been a huge talking point. It's clear, they just draw the lines how they want to.
Having received news we have Gillet for Man Utd game. I know the signatures here, have kind of stalled.
I think the main problem I have with VAR/FA is it does favour the top teams. Wolves, is a working class city, and when I was a young lad. They were in the Championship, and we did have some great strikers back then with Carl Cort. And a few other players, who were waxing lyrical.
I think the squad we have at the moment are very talented individuals. It's clear that they listen to Gary O'Neil. And I think he has done a good job in getting the tactics right. The big teams, especially when we play them away from home. They will try to add pressure in the final third. It's important to continue to play how we are playing, playing defensively, and hitting teams on the counter. GON has a more attacking style of football, than Lopetegui, and is doing a better job. Under the circumstances. I think playing away from home, you get a bit nervous as a football player, and you don't have as many fans backing you as you do at the Golden Palace.
Yet, I don't think VAR is a conspiracy. It's very clear, that it's set up to favour the top teams. I don't think the FA have an agenda against Wolves. I think it's more the fact, they are under pressure from the big clubs, like your Man Cities, and your Arsenal's, and your Chelsea's. With the big lawyers, and big pay cheques, and I think it intimidates the refs a bit.
In relation to VAR confusing the refs, I think there is an element of that. Yet like I said. I think that the refs just, are like I said, intimidated of the top teams. Because of the big pay cheques, and like Man Utd for example. It's a big club, and the refs go there. And if they give a pen against Man Utd, they will have 50,000+ Man Utd supporters having a dig, and a backlash. Quite simply Simon Hooper bottled it, during the O'Nana incident. Just a polite message to the FA. I haven't forgotten about the 7 points lost. And I will continue to raise awareness of officiating until I feel it's at the standard, where I am happy, and the majority of football supporters are happy too. On that respect, I think that there has to be things changed. Some people want Howard Webb sacked. Or for him to quit. I am not sure wether he is the issue, I think the issue, is like I said. The top teams, they have all the money. And football is like a business now, and it's run like one. Where I think we should bring football back to the grassroots, football, that I used to watch as a child. And a teenager, when I was growing up. Football, was more of a passion, and less of a business. Now it's all transfer talks, not that, that wasn't happening before. Yet the beauty of the game surpasses any pay cheque, that any big club or organisation can sign.
Hope every football fan stays positive, and I am still working on this campaign. Until some things is changed, then I will keep banging on the drum. I am sure the Wolves fans will also.
