Petition updateHoward Webb: Hand In Your Resignation With Immediate EffectContext on why I started this petition

A little bit of context as to why I started this petition. I had just played 11 a side football on a full sized football pitch. Non League. I played well, and went home. I grabbed a coffee and a snack, and called up my Dad. This was after the Newcastle game. My Dad was upset. He said, 'That was never a penalty against Wolves you know.' I was aware of the incident, yet hadn't had chance to see the replay. I replied. 'There was contact though Dad?' My Dad said, 'Yes, but the player initiated contact with Hwang, and dived.' I replied. 'You sure, I thought it could have been a penalty.' My Dad said, 'Everyone but you thinks it's not a penalty. Everyone.' So, I thought, maybe my Dad has a point. So I logged into my computer, and watched the replay. Had to watch it about ten times, as it was difficult to assess.

I came to the official conclusion, Hwang, made contact with the ball, then later tried to get the ball. There was an out stretching foot, he made minimal contact with the Newcastle player. And the Newcastle player dived. I said, 'It should have been a yellow card to the Newcastle player for simulation, and a free kick to Wolves.'

Because I know how passionate my Dad is about Wolves, he grew up in Wolverhampton, and I care about my Dad. Always want the best for him. So not saying I made this petition just for him. Yet as he was clearly very upset, and that obviously had an influence on my points of view. As when someone is that upset, there has to be a reason behind it. Then I started to look at the evidence, and started to unravel. A lot of errors.

So, like I said, wasn't just doing this for my Father, yet, he's had an influence, on proceedings, and he gives me a point of view, and if I think it's worthy of a cause. I will run with it. Obviously I do agree with him. I try and see the beauty of the game, and I try to take the VAR errors with a pinch of salt. Yet he's more emotionally attached to Wolverhampton than me. Because I wasn't born in Wolverhampton and he was. I was born in Worcestershire. So, this surrounding context, of wanting to put in a bit of hard work, and run with this cause, and work hard. To help my old man out, and to get on his side. As he feels Wolves have been wronged. Not to forget, my passion for the club as I learn about my Dad's history there. Has been unwavering.

I knew I was going to get a backlash, I have taken the backlash with a pinch of salt. I have carried on with my days, and I have carried on with my life, and this petition has created waves within Members of Parliament. MP's, lots of them, are aware of this now.

So, as much as I am aware I will get a backlash, I take it with a grain of salt. Wanted to do something positive for Wolves as well, because I don't have a season ticket. So I just try and support them on social media as much as I can.

Hopefully I will reach the 100th signature mark, and that will be happy days. Have a good week, take care. PS, for those of you who don't know. That picture is of Whitmore Reans. Where my Dad grew up, and I used to hang out there for a bit. As my Grandmother lived there at the time.
