Howard University is currently imposing a school policy on faculty, professors, and students that there is no remote or online learning AT ALL. Although we are currently still in a pandemic that is no where near over, Howard insists on denying students who tested positive for Covid-19, students who are immunocompromised, those who are in financial need, and those who have dilemmas back home the ability to work out accommodations with their professors to complete class virtually. Many professors prefer online classes and would be willing to work with their students, however Howard administration is imposing these policies and threatening consequences if a professor allows a student to complete work virtually. This has lead to professors telling students to attend class even if they are covid positive due to admin requiring attendance be mandatory and no online modality be admitted. Covid cases are drastically rising on campus and it has only been the first week, We are demanding that our Provost Anthony Wutoh,Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Cynthia Evers, and deans of every department, permit the ability for professors to admit class flexibility for students in need during this pandemic.
