Petition Update
Thank you for signing the petition “Make Howard County a Sanctuary County” supporting County Bill 9.
County Executive Allan Kittleman recently said he would VETO CB-9 if it passes the council. One reason Mr. Kittleman says he opposes the bill is because he is afraid the Trump Administration will retaliate against the county by withdrawing funding, but CB-9 as proposed does not violate state or federal law so these fears may be unfounded. However, there are two ways you can still help it pass.
1) If there are 4 affirmative council votes, the veto will be overridden and CB-9 will pass. Mary Kay Sigaty and Jon Weinstein's votes are critical.
2) Mr. Kittleman sent out a place for Howard County residents to post their thoughts on the issue. We need EVERYONE to respond and tell him why we must protect our friends and neighbors. See the attached link.
Make sure you contact your council representative, and tell him or her how you feel on this issue. We can still win this and make Howard County a safer place.
Use #HoCoSanctuary to show your support to your representatives.
