Fellow Petitioners,

Robb's piece suggests - "Dollars in place; Trustee wants to start from scratch". It seems Robb never asks the Advocate, Proponent or a Petitioner on a issue for their views, if the article involves serious advertising revenue for the Driftwood - example NSSWD & SSIFID. Would this be a case of "Apprehension of Bias" in his reporting?

The way forward to protect NSSWD Ratepayers and their tax dollars, was for the NSSWD Chair and Board of Trustees to pause the project on January 16, 2026 and examine the costs, with which 2 of my fellow Trustees agreed to. However, one Voted - Yes and the other decided to Abstain.

When you take into consideration a Trustee's 1. Duty of Care 2. Fiduciary Duty to the NSSWD Ratepayers, the path forward is clear. Pause the Project, Conduct a New Referendum on May 6, 2026, on whether Ratepayers approve the $14.6Million Budget from last year and reject the now $16.6Mil Budget approved by 4 Trustees at a cost overrun of $2Mil.

Robb's notion that we are starting from scratch is simply wrong. We've paid the current Engineering Firm to design the Water Treatment Plant. That's the property of the water district now. The Tendering process would be about seeking a Design Engineering Firm, using the current design as a template and bring a Project in at $14.6Mil. Meanwhile the current General Contractor Contract chosen would be building to the new design.

The Chair of the NSSWD seems to be ram rodding this project, at a cost overrun of $2Mil. The only one's who can say - "NO" are the NSSWD 1857 Ratepayers.
Please consider joining the 113 Ratepayers/Petitioners in denouncing this cost overrun.

Another Referendum on May 6, 2026 is simply the democratic will of the Ratepayers on whether they are ok with a $2Mil cost overrun. Currently the Province and Federal Government are belt tightening for good reason, to rein in excessive costs.

Thank you! Trustee David Courtney - NSSWD.
