Fellow Ratepayers,
Thank you for your support, we do need the support of like minded Ratepayers, so please pass it on.
On Social Media today a Senior had this to say, along with my response.
"Judy Norget - David, I am not prepared to sign your petition. Elsewhere I have read a very credible account justifying the additional cost. I believe you are an outlier on our Water Board, so have more faith in the board as a whole than in a single member."
Response;
DG Courtney Author
Judy, oddly enough I wasn’t anticipating your support. Obviously, I take offense to your accusations & comments. At least make an effort to justify that comment and do your homework.
Consider asking the NSSWD for the video of the January 16, 2026 - Special Meeting and see the comments on vetting costs and delaying the Vote until late February’s General Meeting. By the way the Vote was effectively 3 to 2 to sanction a $16.6Mil Open Ended Budget.
Then ask for the video of the January 29, 2026 General Meeting, whereby the “Motion to Rescind” did not have a seconder.
Then call over to the NSSWD and talk to the CAO and confirm the following;
1. Once and only after the Contractor Bids had closed did the Engineering Firm come forward and asked for $975K, up from $500K. For what?, they designed the Project for $639K and they now are asking for $925K to oversee it and the cosy relationship of playing Project Manager.
2. We’ve had a quote from a Professional Project Manager for services over a 14 month period of $230K to $285K, depending on the scope of work, which includes mitigating costs on the Engineering Design with the General Contractor. This is how it’s done, conveyed by numerous professional individuals who responded to my post on the SS Exchange.
3. And this is huge, an Renowned Engineer Globally in Potable and Waste Water Mgt came forward last week and stated that if the NSSWD wanted to Publicly Tender a RFP (Request For Proposal) to Design/Build a Water Treatment Plant at a Fix Cost or Less than $14.6Mil, their Firm would indeed be interested in bidding and we may like their costing.
Judy, before you point the finger of blame on those Trustees who are trying to mitigate the costs of being over by $2 Mil on a Referendum conducted only 10 months ago, consider this. The money has come from somewhere. Our young ladies who are half your age, raising a young family with their husbands, will carry the can for the next 20 years. How unreasonable can you be?
So you’ve read a one pager on how the NSSWD justifies a $2Mil cost overrun on a Referendum of $14.6 Mil?
