Dean of General Studies and Academic Support Dr. Nadea Nazarenko phoned yesterday evening. She too was happy to be informed of the ongoing issue of students not receiving grades in a timely manner. She also states that she has an open door policy and wants students to know that if they are not getting appropriate feedback from instructors and department heads, she is more than happy to look into all matters. Dr. Nazarenko agrees that grades and feedback are imperative to a student’s success in any educational setting and has began an investigation into the grading practices at Alvin Community College. As we await resolution, I would like to thank Dr. Nazarenko for taking this concern seriously, following up, and investigating this matter thoroughly. Accountability is a strong staple in education and academic success.
