All these Families, including single mothers and children, are being left minimum for 6 months to over 2 years in emergency housing far beyond the legal limit. They're placed in overcrowded rooms, shared spaces with no safety measures, and suffer from unsafe, unhygienic conditions.
The law is clear: this must stop. Vulnerable people are falling. They are ignored, unsafe, and unseen.

Emergency accommodation is meant to provide short-term safety, not long-term harm. The current system is failing with no clear end.

The lack of family-appropriate rules, safety safeguards, and complaint accountability is unacceptable. These failures violate both legal duties and human dignity.

We call on the Housing Ombudsman to take urgent action to hold Sandwell Council accountable,enforce national standards, and restore a humane and lawful approach to emergency housing and temporary accommodation.

We demand the Housing Ombudsman investigate Council’s long-term use of emergency accommodation or temporary accommodation and ensure immediate reforms to protect families.
