Dear all,

The latest Environmental Impact Studies reports on Tengah forest have been released by HDB today for public feedback by 3 Dec 2021.

Our feedback may be crucial to the fate of the largest contiguous patch of the forest connecting Western Water Catchment and Central Catchment Nature Reserve in Singapore (which endangered wildlife, such as Sambar deer, Sunda pangolins, Raffles Banded Langur etc, may be able to use if there is adequate ecological connectivity).

As you may already know, the original Tengah forest (700 ha) is bigger than Dover forest (33 ha), Clementi forest (85 ha), Bukit Timah nature reserve (163 ha), and Bukit Brown forest (200 ha) put together.

There is still about 65-70 percent of the forest left in Tengah after some parts of it have been cleared for development in the past few years.

According to an ecological rule of thumb, if we lose 90 percent of the forest as initially planned, we will lose 50 percent of the species, as noted by Nature Society (Singapore).
