House Us: A Call for Safe and Stable Housing

House Us: A Call for Safe and Stable Housing
The Issue
When driving around Charlotte, many people can be seen experiencing the ruthless realities of homelessness. These people have been forced into living in tents or seeking shelter on street corners. It's a heartbreaking reality that many of our neighbors struggle with housing instability. It's common to see stories on the news and social media where families are no longer able to afford rent due to the rising costs and inflation.
Charlotte is a large city that is rapidly growing. As the city continues to grow, the supports avalible to those in need of housing is not able to keep up. The contrast between the new developments we see and the lack of safe and affordable housing is quite alarming, and a call for immediate action.
Expanding resources and support for the homeless community and working to provide more affordable housing options, we can begin to reduce the housing crisis. As a community, we must advocate for the increased funding of programs that are focused on the “Housing First” model. This provides immediate and permanent housing solutions to those who are in need. As a community, we must put pressure on local government and developers to force them to prioritize affordable housing projects, to ensure new developments include affordable and safe units accessible to those who may be struggling.
This issue affects all of us, as a community and as individuals. Ensuring safe, stable, and affordable housing for everyone in Charlotte is not just an idea but a necessity. Join me in speaking up for those who often go unheard. Sign this petition to demand that Charlotte officials and developers take decisive steps to ensure EVERY resident has access to affordable housing. Your signature can be a powerful step towards change.
