Have Missouri Rep Tila Rowland Hubrecht Leave Religion Out of Politics or Resign

The Issue

Listen to Tila Rowland Hubrecht Discuss Pregnancy and God

This petition is regarding State of Missouri Representative Tila Rowland Hubrecht and her comments regarding an amendment to the Missouri State Constitution concerning Fetus Rights.

There is a separation of church and state for a reason. We the People feel Tila Rowland Hubrecht is using her position of power for the sole purpose of pushing her religiously charged political agenda upon the citizens of the State of Missouri.

If one believes a fetus is a human being upon conception, then you must also believe human sperm and human ova are also a human being, and should have the same constitutional rights as born human beings. This would mean the destruction of the human sperm and human ova, in any form, are also abortions. The scientific community considers this an absurd notion. This radical type of thinking could lead to women, who happen to miscarry, with potentially being charged with murder. This could also hold men accountable for having an abortion with every sperm that is ejaculated which did not result in the creation of a child.

The notion of when a fetus becomes a "human being" will be debated until the end of time. We the People, do not agree in Tila Rowland Hubrechts' interpretation of a pregnancy via rape as a gift. We feel referring to pregnancy, which is the direct result of rape, as being a "Silver Lining" and a "Gift From God" is insulting to rape victims and only furthers their victimization. This will have women obtaining back-alley abortions. Rape is a traumatic experience that everyone handles differently.

Giving a fetus "Constitutional Rights" will force women who have been raped to carry a pregnancy to term. This could be mentally detrimental to many woman who have already endured a violent crime. When do the rights of the victim come into play?

Tila Rowland Hubrecht needs to remember her religious convictions must not be allowed to discriminate against another human being. Tila Rowland Hubrecht is allowed to believe in God but not impose her religions views upon fellow Missourians who do not share her beliefs.

We the People do not see Tila Rowland Hubrecht attempting to pass this measure because she truly believes life begins at conception; rather she wants this amendment to the constitution because she believes she is doing the work of God.

God does not belong in politics.

We the People are asking Todd Richardson, the Leader of the Missouri House of Representatives, to step in and either stifle Tila Rowland Hubrecht's religiously motivated rhetoric or begin the necessary steps in removing Tila Hubrecht from office.
