Change the Landlords' rights

The Issue

Landlords' pay taxes but have no rights under the current system.

Tenants can stay in their property without paying rent.

To bring a claim to a court against a tenant takes on averager 2 months because the courts backlogs are that long.

The 2 month gives the tenants time to damage the property and run away.

The Council advise tenants to stay in properties until bailiffs are ordered.  This costs landlords thousands of pounds in solicitor and court fees.

In addition the landlord may not be receipt of any rent which is why a claim against the tenant is made in the first place.

The current system also takes no account that whilst the landlord in not in receipt of rent, he still has to carry on making the mortgage payments on the property.

The Housing Benefit applied by unemployed tenants is paid to the tenants which never gets forwarded to the landlord but the Council still continue to advise the tenants to stay in the property.

If the landlord applies for bailiffs to go collect the rent, the bailiffs have no rights to break into the property.  The tenant has the right to stay inside the property but not answer the door.

The system needs to change and needs to be changed immediately.
