Suspend Ian Duncan Smith from office until he has undergone Psychiatric evaluation
The Issue
Ian Duncan Smith should be immediately suspended from office until he has under gone a full psychiatric examination in light of his increasingly bizarre claims and failure to distinguish between fact and fantasy. Members of government should be fit for office for the safety of the british public.
Some of his recent claims.
75 % of people liked being sanctioned and thank him for it although the DWP were not able to back this claim up.
He has also claimed his department have not made any changes since coming into power in 2010 on the sanction regime and that no one is sanctioned first time, claiming it is a last resort.
However Mr Smith presided over the introduction of tough new rules in 2012 which have drastically increased the severity and length of benefit sanctions which have risen from a maximum length of 6 months to more than 3 years.
Although there are currently 1.68m people out of work in the UK Mr Smith has claimed the job centres are running out of people to put back into work.
He has claimed that the majority of people on DLA were given benefits for life , more than 50% without any supporting evidence but the UK Statistics Authority found the real percentage of claims without supporting medical evidence was just 10%.
Mr Smith also believes he can cure the disabled and chronically sick of their degenerative conditions by not only continually reassessing them but by putting them into “work-related activity” – the group expected to be well enough to work, that gets less money, and is routinely sanctioned and believes this is good for them.
The house of Commons have a duty to ensure those in office are of sound mind when they make decisions that affect peoples lives and safety and that where this is in doubt the minister should be suspended whilst a full psychiatric evaluation is carried out to determine his suitability to continue his role in government.
