The Issue

The residents of Alexandria, Indiana, are calling on the city officials to host a town hall meeting within the next two weeks, prior to August 11, 2025.

This is an urgent request due to the ongoing concerns about water quality and the functioning of water systems in our community. It’s crucial that this event includes the presence of the City Mayor, Todd Naselroad, representatives from the Water Department, and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) to address the pressing issues head-on.

Over the past few months, numerous residents have reported issues such as positive E-Coli and Coliform test results, discolored water, strange odors, and inconsistent water pressure. These concerns have caused significant distress within our community, raising questions about water safety and reliability. According to a report by the EPA, safe drinking water is a fundamental right, and we must ensure that Alexandria recognizes and upholds this right for all its citizens.

We propose that the town hall take place at the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library, making it accessible for all residents. This location is central and convenient, ensuring maximum attendance and community involvement. The session must include a comprehensive Q&A portion, allowing residents to voice their concerns and get factual responses directly from the officials involved.

Transparency and communication are essential for fostering trust between city officials and the community. By attending this town hall, the Mayor, the Water Department, and IDEM officials can provide much-needed clarification and updates on what actions are being taken to address the water issues. This event is an opportunity to set the foundation for improved relations and a commitment to resolving the water challenges effectively.

We urge the city of Alexandria to act swiftly in organizing this town hall meeting. It’s an essential step in ensuring the health and wellbeing of our community by prioritizing open dialogue and decisive action.

Please sign this petition to support our demand for a timely and effective response to Alexandria's water concerns.
