Many horses are abused, neglected, and mistreated. This includes miniature horses, which have become increasingly more popular for people to buy. A mini horses are often viewed as great companions and easier to manage than a full sized horse.  However, despite their small size they still require high quality grass hay, fresh and clean water.  Owners of a mini horse should educate themselves thoroughly in good basic care and unique needs of Minis. While often kept as pets- treating them as a horse is very important.  They need appropriate nutrition, room to run, regular hoof care, dental care, grooming, regular vaccines and parasite control.
Owning a horse is very different from owning a dog or cat.  An owner of a horse, no matter what size, should educate themselves on good basic care and needs of a horse.   
This petition is dedicated to improving the law about owning a horses). There should be better guidelines on owning a horse. Example: a mini horse requires a minimum 1/4 of an acre for them to roam, easy access to  fresh and clean water and adequate shelter. I hope that with better guidelines in place, there will be less horses that will be neglected and abused.
