Recently, Horry County Schools District Board has proposed removing the freshman and sophomore STEM program at the Academy for the Arts, Science, and Technology. AAST is the most popular program and STEM school in Horry County and receives over 600 middle school applicants every year. We need to petition to stop this proposal. AAST’s STEM program has impacted hundreds of students and will continue to do so if the program can be continued. AAST has been implementing new pathway courses that show students the opportunities that lay within the STEM field while collaborating with other major fields. This unique curriculum has the strongest effect on its students and should be duplicated rather than removed.
