Urge Singapore Police Force to catch and stop the cat killer in Yishun

There has been a series of brutal cat killings in Yishun and 16 cases of cat deaths have already been reported to the authorities since September 2015. A 17th cat was also reported to be cruelly abused but had survived its injuries.
It is understood that the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore is conducting the investigations on the cat deaths but to date, the crimes of animal cruelty have not been solved and the killer(s) remains at large.
Citizen vigilante efforts led by Mr Louis Ng, Member of Parliament, Nee Soon GRC are ongoing to patrol the neighbourhood and protect the remaining community cats in Yishun but the responsibility must remain with the authorities to step up its investigations urgently and gather the necessary evidence to arrest the killer(s) without further endangering the personal safety of civilians in Yishun who are involved in the neighbourhood watch late into the nights and wee hours of the mornings trying to keep a lookout for a suspect who had been seen with a knife by a witness.
The killer(s) who appears to be pathologically cruel and resorting to increasingly more and more gruesome methods of killing the cats is a danger and threat to the community in Yishun. He has thus far killed with impunity and may even have inspired a wave of violence against cats in other parts of Singapore committed by other killers who had also no fear of reprisals. When the laws against animal abuse are not policed and enforced, there is no deterrent to stop the spate of animal crimes.
We therefore urge and appeal to the Singapore Police Force to deploy its expertise and full resources to lead the investigation and put an end to the horrific killing spree. The killer(s) must be caught, prosecuted and punished to the full extent of the laws.
