Sealing of Gyms & fitness centers in Delhi

Honorable Prime Minister of India wants a Fit India and is promoting a Fit India movement. The monitoring committee has issued a notice directing all civic agencies like MCD, DDA, SDMC, NDMC to seal 90% - 95% gyms / aerobic studios/yoga centers based in Delhi. How is this even possible and fair?

If this happens then over 5000 places that provide Fitness facilities in Delhi including gyms/yoga and aerobics studios are going to be sealed in the next 20 days.

Effects: 5000 Fitness facilities sealed Over 50000 people unemployed, directly effecting 50000 families and no count of an indirect effect.

Over 500000 people will have no access to Fitness facilities.

Running a fitness center in this brutal market itself is a challenging task saddled with huge setup costs, skyrocketing rentals, high overheads, and huge member attition. Yet many fitness enthusiasts take up the risk facing all odds to make India a fit nation.

Even though India is looming with a burgeoning health crisis at the moment, it is most unfortunate to note that there absolutely zero support structure provided by the government unlike in developed nations.

There are 30 million diabetics in India but 2030 India will have largest number of diabetic in the world. Over 900 people under the age of 30 die from cardiac diseases daily in India.

Thousands of people rely on their local gym, fitness center or yoga studio to get rid of such diseases and to lead an overall healthy and happy lifestyle.

How is government planning to cater to their need if 90-95% fitness centers are sealed? And what about thousands of fitness professionals like me who rely on this industry to feed their families?

Please sign my petition to stop this arbitrary decision to come into effect.
