End the use of leg-hold traps in British Columbia

The Issue

Leg-hold and foot-hold traps are designed to hold animals against their will, which leads to the suffering and cruel deaths of animals through dehydration, self-mutilation, predation, exposure and other causes. Regularly, non-target species are caught in such traps, which can include domestic pets, at-risk species and even people. There are currently no regulations requiring signage for the area in which trapping is occuring or registration tags required for the purpose of enforcement. This suffering can end - and the people of British Columbia, Canada and abroad, want to see it end. Honourable Steve Thomson, Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources, enact legislation today to end the use of leg-hold and foot-hold traps in British Columbia.
