Thanks to each and every one of you who continues to support this initiative to get smoke out of Multi-Unit Dwellings in BC. I've been to the post box several times over the past few weeks and signed petitions continue to arrive. Thanks to KD in Surrey, SB in Kelowna, BT in Langley, MS in Chilliwack, II in Vancouver, MW in Vancouver, HR in Langley, HML in Burnaby and MG in Parksville for mailing them. They have arrived and are safe:) Several people have asked me how we are doing with signature collection. The total of signatures I have received (as well as the number of signatures that 3 of you have told me you have but I don't have them in my possession yet) is 571 currently. Our goal is 1000, so we are over half way there.

I've been in contact with my MLA, Mary Polak, who will be presenting the petition and she advised she can present it either in November or in February. As the current session ends on November 29, we have decided to have the petition presented when the Legislative Assembly resumes in February 2019. That means, you have another two months to collect more signatures! I ask that they all arrive to me by January 31, 2019 at the latest so that I can meet with Mary Polak before she leaves for Victoria and give her the petitions. Please consider taking the petition along with you as you venture out to various events over the holiday season! Also, as a few have asked, people do not have to live in a multi-unit dwelling themselves in order to sign. Anyone who is an eligible voter in BC can sign our petition!!

I have also found a little time to add some more things to the airweshare.ca website:
- I have started to upload some of the information we used in preparation for the hearing with our council, so if there are others that are moving towards lodging formal complaints/requesting hearings then feel free to check under the 'Resources' tab.
- I've also fixed the link so that the action button now will allow you to search for your MLA which hopefully will help people send their own politician an email/letter outlining their concerns directly.

Still to come: we plan to add more of the personal accounts people shared on the change.org to the 'You are not alone' section, and I'm not sure what I will call it yet, but we plan to upload common arguments and rebuttals to the statements that fence sitters or those in opposition of this initiative commonly table. We are hoping that we can continue to shape a cultural shift towards seeing how sane and reasonable our request, and how dated/unreasonable having smoking permitted in multi-unit dwellings actually is. A small caveat though, save your energy for the discussions with fence sitters...those strongly in opposition (of which there are only a few) are unfortunately quite entrenched in their thinking at this time.

Please feel free to send me an email to theairweshare@mail.com with content or links to relevant info you feel would be of benefit to myself, other supporters and visitors to our webpage. I have no idea how to monitor traffic or anything like that, but I'm hopeful that the website is a useful resource to us all. Also thanks for continuing to be patient with my delayed responses to your emails. I do get them, it just takes me a while to respond.

Regards and I will send another update soon again. Keep up the great work. We are making progress. Twice in the past week I've had a friend text me and say "I ran into someone collecting signatures for your petition when I was at the pool" or "A friend of mine was talking about your petition and is really glad you're doing this." So remember, every person you share this info with then has the potential to share it with their circle as well. Let's keep spreading the size of our reach!!
